What Makes Us an Eco Friendly Tour Company?

So many tour companies say they are sustainable or eco friendly… but what does that really mean?
We take this declaration to heart and incorporate 4 main principles into each and every tour we operate:

  1. Free of Single Use Plastic - our homemade delicious lunches use no disposable plastic.

  2. Beach Clean Ups: Each tour dedicates 20-30 minutes to beach or trail clean up either after lunch or during the tour while walking on the beach or trails.

  3. Leave No Trace: Respecting the wildlife by NOT touching or molesting them, observing them from a respectable distance, not feeding them or doing anything else to encourage direct interaction with them … (see below)

  4. We donate $1 to the http://www.corcovadofoundation.org/ for each adult passenger on our tours!

FREE of single use plastic & minimal waste

As part of the ‘Osa Libre de Plastico’ campaign and because well.. we just don’t like plastic…

We use banana leaves and wax paper to wrap the lunches or other reusable containers, metal silverware and reusable plastic bottles, cups and plates. We generate virtually no non-organic trash from the lunches.
We encourage recycling if clients do purchase bottles or cans and in the tour information we send out to all clients before each tour we encourage them to bring their own refillable bottles from home. There are recycling bins in the central park in Sierpe.

Monkeys can become aggressive for food if accustomed to humans feeding them. They have sharp teeth and will bite.

Leave no Trace

especially #4&5: Leave the Wildlife Wild!!!

All of our tours are guided by certified naturalist guides who follow the leave no trace principles:

  1. Plan ahead and prepare.

  2. Travel and camp on durable surfaces. (using established trails)

  3. Dispose of waste properly. REDUCE > ReUSE > REcycle

  4. Leave what you find (except trash).

  5. Respect wildlife.

  6. Be considerate of other visitors

Putting our money where our mouth is

We donate $1 per adult client to the Corcovado Foundation who in turn makes a noticeable impact on local communities through education, conservation and sustainable tourism.
